Iveta Vetsenane was born on 24th of September in 1962 in Riga, Latvia. In 1988 she graduated from Latvian Academy of Art, department of textile art. In 2005, she got Master Degree of the same faculty.

Iveta is not only a fascinatingly true artist, but she also is very positive person who is active in many fields: writing articles for renowned magazines, working with book illustrations and as an author of children’s books and much more. Since 1996 she has been a member of Association of Latvian Textile Artists.

Since her childhood, Iveta has felt a closeness to nature.  The main line of her artistic activity is tapestry weaving. She is fond of creating large-scale works. She builds her works on the color contrast principle. The main theme of her creative works - water lily is a flower that encounters three elements of nature – earth, water and air.

Her textile art includes tapestries, paintings on silk and costume jewellery. A recent innovation is seen in her tapestries with amber threads. The amber thread story began in 2006, when the Latvian scientist, the senior researcher of the Riga Technical University Biomaterials and Biomechanics Institute, Inga Lyashenko found an article in Cairo on the use of amber in ancient Egypt: “Blood is stored in the amber dishes in ancient Egypt, and the material used has allowed them not to clot”. Amber thread is produced by integrating purified amber powder into polyamide thread. So Iveta Vetsenane is the first artist in the history who uses amber thread in her works.

Since 1986 the artist has been taking part in exhibitions. The artist has had personal exhibitions in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, the USA, Germany, Luxembourg, Italy, Ukraine and other countries.
