‘Who cares?’ – Heroes exhibition

30 May 14 > 10 Jul 14

Nathan Browning, the Rolling Stones photographer, in February 2014, visited Shagan institution # 3 and families in Yasamal district to help UAFA highlight the role of women in caring for children with disabilities. The idea of this exhibition arose during the visit and he took photos to demonstrate at the exhibition.

David Montgomery – internationally acclaimed Royal and celebrity photographer, has mentored Nathan’s work and will speak about the role of photography in opening the mind to new ideas.

Paying special attention to the role of care-givers, understanding the difficulties these devoted women are facing every day, Heroes Exhibition will help us appreciate them.

THEY ARE TRUE HEROES AND NOBODY HAS DRAWN ATTENTION TO THEIR PERSISTENCE UNTIL TODAY.

Nathan’s heroes make us question who would care for our child, who would support our family?

‘Who Cares’ is an issue that is important to everyone, young or old, rich or poor, with family or without.

ANY OF US COULD END UP IN A SITUATION WHERE WE DEPEND ON SOMEONE ELSE TO CARE FOR US.

At UAFA, we believe that the role of the State is to ensure that this care is regulated, of high standard and meets our human rights. UAFA works closely with the Ministry of Labour & Social Protection to raise standards of care.

UAFA appealed to the Museum of Modern Arts for a place to hold the exhibition and they gladly agreed to host the exhibition at the museum by joining our initiative, moreover, they took upon themselves the printing costs and therefore, they became one of the sponsors of the event.

Rapid Solutions became the other sponsor of the event assuming to meet the travel costs of Nathan and his team: Jacky Storer - a journalist, author and BBC reporter; David Montgomery – an internationally acclaimed Royal and celebrity photographer.

We would like mention that the same exhibition will be held at one of the museums in London in August-September. Rapid Solution will take upon themselves to meet the travel costs this time as well.

WE WOULD LIKE TO EMPHASIZE THAT ALL STAFF INVOLVED IN THIS PROJECT HAS SPENT THEIR TIME AND ENERGY VOLUNTARILY!!!
